Cleone Rachel Gable was born April 10th, 1936 in Rosholt, SD. The daughter of Nencel and Elizabeth (Matteson) Nelson. She was baptized at St. Joseph’s Lutheran Church of rural Rosholt. She was confirmed at Lebanon Church in New London.

Cleone lived on the family
farm and attended grade
school through sixth grade
in rural Roshalt. Then she
moved with her family to
New London, MN in 1948.
She finished 7th and 8th grade
at a rural school in Irving, and
she graduated from New London High school in 1954.

On October 27th, 1954, Cleone was united in marriage to Vincent Gable. They had four children. They lived in Wyoming, Oregon, and South Dakota before moving back to the New London area.

Cleone was a stay at home mom who helped outside a lot. After the chilren were grown she worked as a house cleaner. She enjoyed baking for family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going for morning coffee with friends and traveling with family.

Cleone is survived by her children, Jim (Velma) of Belgrade, Kathy (Dale) Jones of New London, Danny Gable of Hector, and Michael Gable of New London; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; neices and nephews, two sister-in-laws, Doris Nelson and Joanne Nelson; one brother, Harvey (Emagen) Nelson.

Cleone was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Delmar (Irene), Howard, Russell (Fran), Claude, Harvey and sister Ellen.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 31st at 2:00p.m. at Dale and Kathy Janes, 4801 Hwy 9 NE, New London.
